Three service members with Hawaii Island ties recently graduated from Air Force basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio.

Airmen Jordan Turnbaugh, Kahj K. Maunu and Christian M. Lawson completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Turnbaugh is the daughter of Toni Turnbaugh of Frederick, Md., and Mark Turnbaugh of Kona.

Maunu is the son of John and Ka‘ala Kahalioumi of Kapaau. He is a 2015 graduate of Kohala High School.

Lawson is the son of Sandy and Joel Lawson of Keaau. He is also the husband of Feather Lawson. The airman graduated in 2014 from Keaau High School.
